If you fly over just about any populated area now, you can look down from your window and see blue swimming pools literally dotted throughout your field of vision. This is because, swimming pool ownership, which was once so far out of reach of most families is now becoming more and more common place. Each day more and more families all over the U.S. and Canada are finding out that they too can now afford the swimming pool that they have always dreamed about.
So Much Quicker – Easier – Affordable
The two big reasons behind this growing trend are lower prices and simplicity of installation. In short that means that you now have a far broader choice of pool designs that are less expensive and they are quicker and easier to have installed or do-it-yourself. The glass jar on my swimming pool pump equipment has dirty water in it.?
What does this mean? What should I do?
If it’s glass, that’s a Hayward, everyone else uses plastic for the sight glass. The sight glass is there for you to see the clarity of the water running out during a backwash cycle, without you having to run out to the end of the backwash hose to look. When you start a backwash it will initially be clear, then get dirty. When it goes clean again, the filter is clean. Sometimes after a backwash, you’ll have about 1/3 of that glass left with water standing in it. It’s not unusual for that little bit of now stagnant water to go green or have some sand or dirt in it. This in no way impacts your pool water of degrades the performance of your filter and is normal. If it bothers you to look at, you can unscrew the sight glass and clean it out but chances are, it’ll just re occur within a week. Again, not an issue.
